Daniel Engel
Rosh Machar

Wow, I never thought I’d be writing one of these ever again.  For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Daniel Engel (affectionately known as Big Engy).  I like long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, and bone-crushing bodychecks.  I just graduated law school at the University of Toronto and am starting real life 3 days after camp!    It’s been 10 long years since I first graced the shores of Lake William and I haven’t grown an inch since.  I often get asked why I go to Kadimah when there are tons of camps significantly closer to home.  My response is always “because Kadimah is the best camp in the world”.  Invariably, the other person smiles sarcastically and says “whatever, everyone thinks that their camp is the best”.  But if you’ve been to Kadimah before, you understand exactly what I mean.  If you’re a first time camper, you’ll learn soon enough.

I cannot wait until June 28 when Kadimah hears the Roar of Machar 07.  There is something special about a summer in Machar – something you cannot fully describe.  When Machar comes together in the chadar to sing, for the moment it seems like all of the stresses of life in the city are a distant memory.  You guys are the reason why Adam, myself and your staff have been working tirelessly to plan the summer.  If it makes you happy, it’s probably going to make us happy.  So be excited because Good Times Are Coming.

Sincerely,

Daniel Engel
