Sessions & Age Groups

Camp Sessions

Camp Kadimah is proud to offer three different session options for campers:

  • Taste of Kadimah – A specialized 14 day program for new Giborim campers ages 7, 8 and 9.
  • Kadimah Intro Program – A 4-week program for new campers ages 7-13.
  • Traditional Kadimah Program – Our staple program of 6-weeks for both returning and new campers, ages 7-16.

Camp Sections/Age Groups

Camp Kadimah has four camper sections and one CIT (Counselor in Training) section.
The sections are listed below, from youngest to oldest campers.

Gibbie_Unit Giborim

The Giborim section, for 7, 8 and 9 year old campers, is a special section at camp with many of its own theme days. With a playground, Gaga pit and tetherball court right next to the cabins, and a staff to camper ratio of close to 1:2, “Gibbieland” is always a fun place to be. Just before the summer, Gibbies are assigned individual “Big Buddies” from the CIT section who become like their older siblings at camp.

The Goshrim section, for 10 and 11 year old campers, is a place filled with fun. ‘Goshies’ experience all the activities around camp and have many of their own themed days. With great staff at their side, Goshies can often be seen playing floor hockey, making gimp, beading and singing the loudest in the Chadar. Goshieland is one cool place to be!

The Kochot section is for 12 and 13 year old campers. As the oldest section in Junior Camp, Kochotniks get to participate in Hockey Marathon as well as basketball and softball house leagues. After a full day of choice and regular activities, their energetic staff plan a nightly evening program. Kochot goes on a section-wide camping trip and then a half-day trip to see Nova Scotia sites near the end of the season.

Camp Machar is the senior camp at Kadimah for 14 and 15 year olds. Machar participates in Hockey Marathon as well as basketball and softball house leagues. The Machar program includes special thematic programming and “Machar Day” (a leadership program where they “run” camp for a day) as well as many other activities capped off by a day out near the end of the summer to experience Nova Scotia sites and culture.  The Machar program is directed towards leadership, cooperation and responsibility. Machar does everything as a section and is an integral part of the Kadimah program.

CIT2012CIT (Counselors in Training)

The CIT program, for campers age 16 (summer after grade 10), was developed to build the leadership skills we look for in our counselors-to-be. The CITs work on a rotational basis, assisting in cabin placements, on different specialties, and in special leadership training programs geared towards both Jewish and secular leadership. A meaningful part of the CIT experience is becoming a Big Buddy to one of the Gibbies (age 7 to 9) where you are like an older brother or sister throughout the summer.  One of the best parts of the CIT program is the CIT trip. For a week, the CITs travel through the Maritimes and experience the fantastic views of Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and parts of Nova Scotia. The CIT cabins (WITH showers!) are located in a special CIT section of camp.
