While enjoying a usual wonderful Shabbat dinner, campers and staff suddenly noticed smoke filling the air in and outside of the dining hall. Following the kitchen staff, the camp also ran out of the dining hall in an orderly fashion to the sports field in front of the dining hall to wait for further instructions. The Fire Department near camp was on the scene within minutes, only to have the colours of Maccabia jump out of the back and surprise all the campers and staff with the introduction to Maccabia 2002.

Although Maccabia was broken Friday July 19, it will begin on Sunday July 21.
